Just 70 km south of Madrid lies Toledo, a unique museum city of great art. It is also known as the City of Three Cultures because Christians, Muslims, and Jews once lived peacefully together here. Toledo's buildings reflect all artistic periods: from Arabic art and Gothic to the Mudéjar style, the Renaissance, and the Baroque. The famous painter El Greco, who shaped Spanish Mannerism in the 16th century and is considered a pioneer of modernism, worked here. You can easily reach Toledo by high-speed train (AVE). There are three options: 1.) Guided tour on site You will meet your guide on site, who will lead you through the World Heritage city of Toledo for three hours. We will take care of the train ticket reservations in advance or organize a bus. On the tour, you will see the city's most important monuments. Of course, you will stop by the cathedral or visit churches, monasteries, or synagogues on site. You and your guide will discuss your interests. After the three-hour guided tour, you can continue exploring on your own. Duration: 3 hours // Meet on-site 2.) Half-day excursion You will meet your guide at your accommodation or at Atocha Station. Together, you will travel to Toledo and spend three hours exploring this impressive city, which seems to have stopped in 1561. You will decide on-site which interior visits you would like to take. We recommend visiting the cathedral and another monument. Your guide will be available to advise you. How about climbing the observation tower at a church and enjoying a panoramic view of Toledo while your guide explains the monuments from above? Duration: 5 hours // Guide included from Madrid. 3.) Full-day excursion Your guide will meet you at your accommodation in Madrid, and together you will take a trip to Toledo. A detailed city tour awaits you. You will wander through all the distinct districts. Alongside the commercial pedestrian zones, there are many inconspicuous alleyways that lead to a quieter Toledo, where there are fewer tourist groups. Your guide will point out the cathedral, the most representative monuments, and the Greco Museum. He will delve into the history and help you understand the period in which three cultures lived side by side. Duration: 8 hours // Guide included from Madrid.
